Syracuse Chorale, central New Yorkís oldest non-audition community chorus, recently awarded "Voices of Tomorrow" scholarships to two 2008 high school graduates in the region planning to pursue studies in music and continue their involvement in choral music.
This year's first-place recipient is Kasey Buecheler, Westhill High School, heading to the University of Buffalo's Honors Studies, with a double major in Dance and Asian Studies. The second-place winner is Janeen Elhassan, West Genesee Salutatorian, who will study Music Performance/Clarinet and minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the Eastman School of Music.
In Spring 2009, application material will be available from high school music teachers and on the website. The competition is open only to high school seniors with an anticipated graduation date of June 2009, and who are interested in continuing choral singing after high school.
